oNCE AGAIN IT IS MY PLEASURE TO PRESENT THIS YEARS ANNUAL REPORT.
March.
the water level on opening day was good due to the dry weather prior to the 1st. the water temp was good and many members had good fishing during the month. smuts and olives were about and some nice fish were taken on these flies
best flies during the month were the
hares ear nymph ‘ smuts and small dry olives
the weather was cool for the first week of the month. during the second week of april the weather improved and olives began to appear. it was during this spell of good weather that the wet & DRY TOOK PLACE. there was a very good turnout for this event with 15 members taking part.the size limit was reduced on the day ( 2x10in and 2x11in ) bag limit 4 fish.Most successful flies were olive nymphs and dry olives. pat cleere won the event with 4 fish (2lb 6 ozs) tony DOHERTY took 2nd place 3 fish (1LB 9ozs) and peter doherty finished 3 RD 2 fish (1 lb 7 OZS)
THE MONTH OF APRIL ON THE RIVER WAS FOR THE MOST PART PRODUCTIVE AND ENJOYABLE FOR MEMBERS WHO FISHED. best flies during the month were nymphs and again dry OLIVES SIZE 16 / 18
THE GRaY CUP COMPETITION TOOK PLACE ON THE bank holiday weekend sunday 1st. 11 members weighed in 19 fish. ( 33 last year ) it was a very windy day with bright sunshine. iron blues ,black gnats and hawthorn flies were about .FIRST AND SECOND PLACE WENT TO THOSE WHO FISHED THE GOLF COURSE SECTION. KEVIN DUNNE won the event with 4 fish (2lbs 15zs) TONY DOHERTY took 2 nd 4 fish (2lbs 14Ozs) and PETER DOHERTY finished 3 rd (4 fish 2lb 9ozs )
the leinster river qualifier was fished during the month on the n.k.t.a.s.a waters tony and peter doherty came through to fish the national
the weather was good for much of the month and As expected the fishing WAS excellent AND MANY MEMBERS were seen on the river enjoying the evening rise to yellow may duns and sedges.
THE MICHAEL O’REILLY TROPHY WAS FISHED ON THE 5TH 9 ANGLERS TURNED OUT ON THE NIGHT.THERE WAS A GOOD RISE ON THE NIGHT WITH A GOOD HATCH OF YELLOW MAYS AND SEDGES TONY DOHERTY WON THE EVENT 4 FISH (2 LB 15OZS) TERRY WALSH TOOK SECOND 4 FISH ( 2LB 14OZS) AND KEVIN DUNNE TOOK 3RD 4 FISH (2LB 9OZS
the national river championship was fished again on the n.k.t.a.s.a..a waters peter doherty won this competitive event and will be fishing for ireland in june on the river tay

ANGLING PRESSURE WAS heavy for MOST OF THE MONTH. there was a strong hatch of yellow may duns during this period and large numbers of fish were taken on this fly during the evening. however the better fish were taken on sedges during the evening rise.
THE WEATHER in july was for the most part GOOD; members fishing THE EVENING RISE ENJOYED SOME EXCELLENT FISHING.
The Twilight competition was fished on the 9 th. with 7 members taking part. THE RISE ON THE NIGHT WAS POOR.

The autumn cup was fished on the 14th 12 members returned 20 fish. The stretch above and below the bridge fished best on the day. the event was won by tony doherty 4 fish (2lbs 8ozs) peter doherty took 2nd ( 4 fish 2lbs 5ozs ) and terry walsh finished 3rd(4 fish 2lbs 4ozs)
the WEATHER FOR MOST OF THE month WAS GOOD. MANY ANGLERS HAD GOOD FISHING DURING THE EVENING RISE. all the usual flies for this period worked well,
the liffey shield was fished on 11th with 3 teams taking part clane ,north kildare and dublin trout. the Clane team of kevin dunne ,tony doherty ,peter doherty and norman morrow won the event

The GOOD weather continued into the first week of the month. the HARRY SMITH CUP WAS FISHED ON THE 4TH 10 ANGLERS RETURNED 16 FISH. the early part of the day fished best. heavy rainfall in the afternoon resulted in a poor rise
the last 2 weekS of the month saw mixed weather and as a result the fishing was very patchy.
DECEMBER .
OUR CHRISTMAS OUTING WAS held in rathcon fishery 23 members took part. the weather for a change was kind to us and 84 fish were caught and returned. the days fishing was followed by our traditional christmas meal in the westgrove hotel in clane. the committee would like to thank betty hayes for her generous sponorship of the junior prizes
the reduced renewal subscription of €35 for seniors intermediates €10 and €5 for all other members will remain in place for the coming year.
The committee would ask you to take some time to check the renewal form. on the form you will see a provision for you to enter your mobile number or e-mail address. the reason for this request is to compile a data base to notify members of competitions and events that you need to be inform of. The data base will allow the committee to contact you by text or e-mail rather than snail mail. Norman morrow will be compiling this data base and your cooperation would be much appreciated

As is the custom each year the committee selects a long standing member for honoury membership in recognition of their contribution to the CLUB. TERRY WALSH is to be thIS YEARS recipient. terry has BEEN A very active committee member for many years AND IS THE CURRENT CHAIRMAN. HE CAN ALWAYS BE relied upon to contribute in any way he can to the actiivities of the club.
THE committee / club MADE A contribution OF €250 TO THE ALZHEIMERS ASSOC. OF IRELAND.
IN ADDITION THE MONIES RAISED FROM THE LIFFEY SHIELD €640 WAS DONATED TO FR paul o’ boyle OF CLANE / RATHCOFFEY PARISH. THE MONEY WAS USED for the PARISH BENEVOLENT FUND. FR JOHN THANKed THE CLUB AND HE ALSO EXPRESSED HIS GRATITUDE TO D.T.A.A AND N.K.T.S.A.A.
2011 SAW THE SAD PASSING OF TOM CASEY BROTHER OF MICK CASEY KATHLEEN MARRON GRANDMOTHER OF JONATHON MORRISSEY ALSO PASSED AWAY LAST YEAR. in early january annie duggan mother of richard also passed away MAY THEY AND ALL DECEASED MEMBERS AND THEIR RELATIVES REST IN PEACE.

River clean up
a river clean up will take place on sunday 19th feb. the committee would welcome volunteers on the day. If you can spare 2 hours please give your name to a committee member on the night of the agm

THE MAIN AREA FOR PARKING IS IN THE VILLAGE AT THE BRIDGE.
